Unfiltered Series: Shiseido Anti-Wrinkle Set

Hi there!

I know I’ve not been active on my blog lately, but I was busy studying for finals since this was my last semester as a college (university) student. But now that I’m done with exams, I can focus on the blog again so yay!

Shall we begin?

Last month, I received an email from Sephora that VIB Rouge members can use their points to redeem a set of samples from Shiseido. I’ve wanted to try this brand since it became available at Sephora, but the price has made stay away from their products (very expensive). This was my only opportunity to try Shiseido so I went for it. I’ve heard only great things about it and how it gives you a flawless looking skin. It was also my first time trying J-beauty (Japanese beauty).

I received three samples which are the bestselling items from Shiseido. These supposedly are to prevent fine lines and wrinkles, dullness and uneven texture, and reduce oiliness. I’m only 22 years old, but it’s important to start using anti-aging products early in order to slow down the process. Dermatologists say you can start applying anti-aging products once you turn 21!

The products are meant for all skin types which is great, because I’ve combination skin. And the best part? They’re cruelty-free!

1) Ultimate Power Infusing Serum Concentrate

Since it’s a sample, it only has 10mL. And you’ve to pump it twice in order to have enough serum to put on your face so it doesn’t last for too long. This serum needs to be applied twice a day (morning & night). If you use other serum like a do, you’d put this one first. But if this is the only one you use, then you apply it after toning.

However, some of the ingredients that caught my eye are:

✿ Bulgarian Rose Water (protects and strengthens skin against day to day damage)

✿ Reishi Mushrooms (rich antioxidants known to hydrate and visibly reduce aging)

Iris Root (has ability to keep skin moisturized)

After applying it, my skin felt moisturized but also softer. And my face would look brighter.

2) Benefiance WrinkleResist 24 Intensive Eye Contour Eye Cream

The sample I use has 5mL. I seriously love this eye cream! This semester was really stressful for me so I didn’t get enough sleep and the dark circles under my eyes were very visible, I tried other eye creams to help reduce the appearance of puffiness, but none of them worked as the one from Shiseido. It has significantly reduced the size of my dark circles. In order to see results, you need to use it twice a day (morning & night).

Some of the ingredients that caught my eye are:

Glycerin (improves the skin’s youthful look)

Burnet Extract (helps improve the look of firmness)

Gambir Extract (reduces the appearance of wrinkles)

3) Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Night Cream

I use the moisturizer from BELIF that can also be applied at night. So I was excited to try this cream that’s specifically made for only applying it at night. It only has 10mL, so it can last you longer since you only use it once a day. This product didn’t help my skin at all. After applying it, I felt my face moisturized for a short period of time and then it became dry (I’ve dry skin). Even though the product is suppose to work for dry skin. I’d wake up in the morning feeling the skin of my face tight and it also caused me breakouts. I used it for about two weeks hoping that it’d get better, but it didn’t, so I stopped. Also, the texture of the cream feels heavy, it isn’t smooth like other moisturizers.

It has Gambir Extract and Glycerin just like the eye cream so I was hoping it’d work on my skin type, but no luck with this one. :(

Final thoughts: I really like the serum and eye cream, however, once the samples finish, I won’t purchase the actual products because they’re not within my budget. The serum is $100 and the eye cream is $63 (got this info from Sephora.com). But after trying these products, I know understand the hype behind Shiseido.

Disclaimer: I live in the US so I don’t know if Sephora in other countries offers this set for VIB Rouge!
