Unfiltered Series: Tonymoly Spicy Ramen Makeup
Since this summer, I’ve been more interested in K-beauty, so when Tonymoly announced their collaboration with the famous spicy ramen brand, Samyang, I knew I had to have it!
This collection is only available in Korea, so I had to order it online. I paid $25.75 USD.
This is how I received my package. In a small box and everything was wrapped in shipping wrapping plastic (I took it off before the photo) so none of the products were damaged. As for the products that I bought the cushion foundation (it’s in the ramen cup), lip tint (orange package) and highlighter (pink package), The site I ordered from also sent me actual ramen to try, from Samyang!
The only products I’m missing from this collection are the other lip tint and blush.

This foundation collection only has 2 shades: Vanilla and Beige. Their shade range isn’t the greatest. :( I got shade 01 which was Vanilla. I was kind of nervous to see whether the shade will match me or not, because I prefer buying foundation in person so I can test it. However, it turned out to be the right one! It was also my first time using cushion foundation. so I didn’t have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised with! It actually offers good coverage - this comes from someone who has acne. I’d say it’s medium coverage and it’s buildable. It covered most my acne. Another thing that I like is that it’s SPF50+ and PA+++ which means it offers high UVA protection!!
And compared to my normal foundation, this one doesn’t offer a matte look, but more like a dewy one. It also comes with one refill.
I also decided to do a test wear, because my schedule is pretty busy so I always look for foundation that stay on my face for a longer period of time. The following photos, I took after 6 hours:
In conclusion: I’d not use this foundation for when I’ve long days, but mostly during my free days and the weekend.
There’s only 2 lip tints in the collection: spicy red and cheese orange. I got the cheese orange shade.
I really like the shade and it applies smoothly on the lips. It does have a hint of spicy when you smell it lol. I also did a test wear to see whether it stays on your lips after eating or drinking. Below, the top photo was taken right after I applied it. And the second photo was captured after I had 2 meals, coffee and water. As you can see, there’s not much difference between these images, which shows that the tint is long wear.
I love highlighters. And I always look for new ones to try. This one is called Carbonara-sauce like soft. Compared to my go-to-highlighter from Tarte, this isn’t as pigmented.
To me, this is the perfect highlighter to use for when I go to work or class. Because I like it to be more subtle that I’m wearing highlighter in these kind of environments. Just personal preference.
WHERE TO BUY
I got all these goodies from http://beautyboxkorea.com . It was my first time using this online store, and I had a great experience! When Tonymoly x Samyang was announced, I had to pre-order it on Beauty Box Korea. For those who pre-ordered, shipping was suppose to start in the first week of October, but I received an email saying that they have a high volume of orders for this, so it might ship later than the scheduled date. In the end, I still received the order when I was suppose to! And it got to my house within a week (S. Korea (Seoul) - US (Boston)), which is incredibly fast! When you place your order, you get to choose from 3 delivery services (EMS which is Korean, FedEx and UPS). I picked UPS because it was the cheapest. They tell you that it takes a week to be shipped to your address. And the best part? Beauty Box Korea ships worldwide!!
To my surprise, I actually like this collection and all the products I reviewed, I’ll incorporate them into my makeup routine. If this becomes a permanent collection, I wish for 2 things: Tonymoly to expand their shade range for the cushion foundation and to make these products available in other countries besides Korea. Fingers crossed! The only thing I was truly disappointed about (if you can call it that) is that none of the products smelled spicy. Haha, I’m just joking!
